If a retired member has a monthly benefit check in his/her possession for more than 60 days to 12 months from the date of the check, the bank may not accept it for deposit.
In order to revalidate the check, the member must visit our office in person where a SFERS staff will stamp the check as valid (picture ID is required). If a member is unable to visit our office in person, he/she can contact the Retirement System for instructions.
